Michigan continues to gain momentum on the recruiting trail, as 2016
cornerback Antwaine Richardson (Delray Beach, FL) committed to the Wolverines
on Friday afternoon via Twitter. The coaching staff has been red-hot on since the start of June with Antwaine
being the fifth commitment in ten days.

Scouting Report
Antwaine is a solid looking cornerback prospect that possesses
a good frame, that is capable of adding weight to it once he arrives at the
college level. Shows solid speed
throughout his highlight reel and shows good closing speed on the ball carrier.
Antwaine has decent back-pedal speed and can turn his hips fluidly to get
towards the ball carrier. Throughout his entire highlight film, Antwaine shows
signs of a lock down cornerback as he is able to play in press coverage or in
zone. Does a good job of using his long arms while defending the pass and can
go up for jump balls. Ideal ball skills for a cornerback and is able to bring
contort his body to make breakups/interceptions. He has enough speed to keep up with receivers
and does a good job of disrupting the pass using his body. Good lateral mobility and takes good paths to
the ball once thrown. An above average tackler who hits hard and does a good
job of wrapping up his man. Does an excellent job of waiting for a play to
develop and then attacking the ball. One
major thing I noticed watching Antwaine’s highlight film is that he never finds
himself out of position and is constantly able to make plays due to his high
instincts and football IQ. All in all,
it looks as if Michigan has found another under the radar recruit who looks
capable of playing at a high level once his collegiate career begins.
Highlight Video
Antwaine
becomes the second recruit (Shelton Johnson) that Michigan has been able to
pluck out of Atlantic High School since Jim Harbaugh took over. The coaching
staff continues to extend their reach across the country as they’ve now taken
three talented recruits out of SEC territory in 2016.
Richardson
becomes Michigan’s eleventh commitment in the 2016 recruiting cycle joining; QB
Brandon Peters, RB Matt Falcon, RB Kingston Davis, OT Erik Swenson, ATH Chris
Evans, LB Dele Harding, LB/FB David Reese, ATH Kiante Enis, OG/DT Michael
Onwenu, and LB Dytarious Johnson.
The coaching
staff will likely continue to recruit the cornerback position as they currently
lack some depth along the defensive secondary. Other possibilities include; Tony Butler
(Lakewood, OH), Lavert Hill (Detroit, MI), and David Long (Los Angeles, CA).
