released their Top 5 list this week that included Michigan? Which 2016 target
trimmed removed Ohio State from their top list? The coaching staff spread out
across the country again this week and offered several prospects. Who were
they? Find out in this Fridays version of “The Future Huddle.”
Naquan Jones Names a Top 5
On Thursday, 2016 4* Defensive Tackle Naquan Jones (Evanston,
IL) released his top 5 schools via Twitter.
First I
would like to say thanks to everyone who has taken their time to recruit me.

Naquan is a big bodied strong defensive tackle that is
constantly bringing in double teams. He possesses a solid burst off the line of
scrimmage and gets into the backfield in a hurry. Hits gaps extremely well.
Naquan is exceptionally good at shedding blocks along the offensive line and
causes the quarterback to make off timing throws. Standing at 6’4” and weighing around 285
pounds, Naquan has the ideal size to play defensive tackle at the next level. A little raw right now with techniques, but
with a senior year of football still left in front of him, he has ample time to
adjust. Good speed once in the backfield
and is able to chase down the ball carrier. Possesses solid strength and
routinely pushes back the offensive guard/center. Above average footwork and plays with a high
motor. A solid tackler, who does an excellent job of getting low on his man and
wrapping up. Overall Naquan is a very solid looking prospect who will definitely be a force at the college level.
At this point in his recruitment, I would guess that
Michigan is trailing to land the 4* DT and Michigan State looks to be in prime
position to gain his commitment.
Auston Robertson
Trims His List
On Wednesday, 2016 4* DE/TE target Auston Robertson (Fort Wayne, IN) shortened his top schools list by eliminating Ohio State. Speaking with ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren, Auston said;
“I don’t really have a relationship like
that with Ohio State anymore, so why keep them in the top three,” he said. “So
now it’s Michigan State, Notre Dame and Michigan."
Robertson, who visited Ann
Arbor last week with fellow high school teammate Austin Mack, also went into detail about
how his visit went and what effective Jim Harbaugh had on him, stating;
“I had dinner with Coach Harbaugh and he
seems like a pretty good guy. He was explaining to me that if I committed to
Michigan and they won a national championship that I would be remembered as a
player who helped turn Michigan around,” he said. “I want to put myself in
history and be remembered as a football player, so that really stood out.”
At this point in his
recruitment, I’d say that Michigan State/Notre Dame are in the driver’s seat to land the
talented defensive end, but anything could happen and with Jim Harbaugh
explaining how Auston could be immortalized by the Wolverine fan base, it may
work in favor of Michigan climbing into Auston’s top school.
Robertson and Mack will both
announce their college choice on June 7th at the R.A.S football camp
in Indiana.
