Scouting Report:
Zach is a coach’s dream. He has all the tools to become a very effective quarterback in a Jim Harbaugh's offence. He's your standard pro-style quarterback standing at 6'6 and already weighing 230 pounds. Zach is able to make all the throws at a variety of distances. He’s very comfortable in the pocket, and waits for the play to develop. Goes through his reads as well as any high school quarterback I've watched. Does a good job of throwing nice, crisp ball with a tight spiral. Zach has a very strong arm, and looks as if he throws the ball with relative ease. Does a good job of throwing the ball to only where the receiver can catch it. Once Zach reaches college, he will have to improve on his footwork. When he does plant both feet, he is more accurate with his throws. Sometimes throws of his back foot, which results in balls being overthrown or not accurate. Unlike most prototypical pocket quarterbacks, Zach is able to stretch the play out with his legs if needed. Has decent speed and is capable of picking up first downs with his legs. He’s a much underrated athlete. Potential to become a multi-year starter.
Highlight Tape:
Gentry becomes the second Michigan commit at the quarterback position joining Alex Malzone.
Zach becomes the eighth recruit of Michigan’s 2015 class joining; Brian Cole, Alex Malzone, Grant Newsome, Jon Runyan Jr., Andrew David, Tyree Kinnel and Reuben Jones.
