Harbaugh with the game ball after beating the Cardinals 20-17 in his final game. Source |
Jim Harbaugh and 49ers have mutually parted ways, per source.Alright then. Let's get on with it.

In his post game presser, Jim looked about as happy as he has all year. Maybe it was the win over Arizona? But my bet would be, he's just happy to have this ordeal over with. He's ready to move on.
Harbaugh asked if he'll be the next coach at Michigan: "There will be announcements made."Jim went on to speak very favorably about his players and his time coaching them in SF. There's no doubt he had a special bond with guys like Frank Gore and Colin Kaepernick. Jim is the kind of guy that does everything from the heart...and he's a great coach to boot. So much so that I question just what the hell the 49ers are thinking. But I suppose it was just time for both to move on.

Even the most staunch NFL reporters have (finally) caved.
Nothing is signed, but the almost certain destination for Jim Harbaugh is Michigan, per source close to him. For more than $8M per year.Jim Harbaugh is scheduled to take a 10AM PT flight from the Bay Area to Michigan (likely KYIP...aka Willow Run) tomorrow. That puts him in Ann Arbor, say...5-ish? From there, let the maize & blue festivities commence. Right now, things still appear to be on track for a Tuesday press conference and an appearance at the now completely sold out men's basketball game against Illinois at 3PM.

Now, of course nothing is signed...at least not to my knowledge as of this post. But there is WAY too much smoke for this thing not to be as done as done can be. As far as I know, there are no Raider officials in Ann Arbor.
Michigan insiders, national writers and even NFL insiders are reporting (mainly tweeting) that Harbaugh is headed to Michigan. But like we've said from the start, until he's at that Michigan podium and a contract is signed...there's just something all too surreal about this to believe it's actually happening until it's right in front of you.
Tuesday can't come soon enough.
