Let’s face it, we all knew that there was a good possibility that Brady Hoke would lose his job at the end of the season.  The poor on field performances, the concussion issue in September, and the lack of player development all played a part in Brady losing his job. With all the uncertainty around the program in the past few months, Michigan’s recruiting class took a major hit losing eight recruits and dwindling Michigan’s 2015 class down to only six remaining commits.

With the firing of Hoke on Tuesday, many commits and recruits took to twitter to voice their opinions on Michigan's choice to let Brady go;

You get the picture. Brady Hoke certainly had his way to effect these kids on a day to day basis. In my mind Hoke was a great recruiter, but not a top notch coach. There’s no doubt in my mind that all the current Wolverines respected and looked up to Brady, but when you go 31-20 in four seasons, something had to be done. Brady will without a doubt find another coaching position in FBS, but his time at Michigan will always be a sore spot in the eyes of fans.

Alex Malzone wins Michigan's Mr.Football and Gatorade Player of the Year

On Wednesday, current Quarterback commit Alex Malzone beat out former commit Mike Weber to take home the Michigan Mr.Football award.
Alex had a stellar senior season at Brother Rice, throwing for 2,998 yards on 325 attempts, with 38 touchdowns. Alex also led his team to an 11-1 record, with their only loss on the season coming to De La Salle in the state regional playoffs. Clearly, Alex is going to be the leader of this 2015 class, as he worked extremely hard to gain a scholarship offer from the coaching staff, and never wavered through his commitment the entire season. Malzone will also be enrolling early at Michigan this January.

Speaking with Tom Markowski from State Champs Sports Network, Alex had this to say about receiving the Mr.Football award.

 “It means a lot to me,” Malzone said of the award. “I think of all the great players that have come from Michigan and all the players who came from Brother Rice. It’s one of my best achievements.”

Alex is the first Michigan Mr. Football to commit to the University of Michigan since the awards inception in 2008. 

However, this wasn't the only award Alex reeled in this week. On Tuesday, Gatorade announced that Alex Malzone won the Gatorade State Football Player of the Year. Alex joins a very star studded list of players that have taken home the award including; Matt Barkley, Lorenzo Booker, Joe Mauer, Peyton Manning, and Emmitt Smith.


Other Notes:

Former Michigan commit Mike Weber picked up an offer from Iowa. Mike now currently holds 17 scholarship offers from across the nation. Mike also announced on twitter that he will be visiting Notre Dame on December 12th for an official visit.

Former Michigan commit Garrett Taylor committed to Penn State last Sunday. Garrett is currently ranked as the #8 Cornerback in 2015 according to Rivals. 

2015 Cornerback target Marcus Lewis had a big week picking up a scholarship offer from Louisville.  The University of Miami has made a major push lately to land the talented 4* recruit, with defensive backs coach Paul Williams paying him a visit on Wednesday, followed by a phone call from Head Coach Al Golden.

Former Linebacker commit Darrin Kirkland had an in-home visit from Arkansas coach Brett Bielema on Wednesday. 

2015 Cornerback targets Iman Marshall and Colin Samuel will both take official visits this weekend to Oklahoma to watch the Sooners take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Marcus Lewis was also visited by the Kentucky coaching staff on Thursday night. 

2016 Running back target Antonio Williams committed to Wisconsin on Thursday night. The talented back was offered by the Michigan coaching staff in July.

2016 Cornerback target Lavert Hill will be playing for Detroit King next season after transferring from Cass Tech.

2016 Defensive back Damar Hamlin picked up a scholarship offer from Duke on Thursday.

2016 Running back Matt Falcon was offered a scholarship from Indiana on Thurdsay. Indiana becomes the third Big Ten school to offer Matt joining; Ohio State and Indiana.

2016 Wide Receiver Donnie Corley picked up a scholarship offer from Tennessee on Thursday. Donnie also received his 4th star from Rivals earlier in the week.
