Friday's Future Huddle Has to Look Elsewhere

Two Michigan targets committed to other schools this week. Who will Michigan turn to now? Which current commits and, targets will be at The Opening next week? Find out in this Fridays version of The Future Huddle.

On Wednesday, two Michigan targets announced their college choices. 2015 5* linebacker Justin Hilliard chose Ohio State, while 2015 4* wide receiver Miles Boykin choose the Fighting Irish. So where does Michigan go from here?

Well, in regards to Hilliard, Michigan will likely turn towards 3* Tyriq Thompson, 4* Asmar Bilal or, 4* Osa Masina. In all likeliness, I see Masina filling the spot that Michigan had hoped Hilliard would have filled. Masina fits the mould of what Michigan looks for in linebacker prospects. He’s got the prototypical size; he’s fast and has great field vision. Masina will be heading to Ann Arbor at the end of July for the Michigan BBQ. Masina's recruitment should come down to Michigan, Utah and USC.

So where does Michigan turn to now to find a wide receiver for the 2015 class? Look no farther than Florida receiver Auden Tate. I've been a big fan of Auden ever since I first watched his film. He’s a tall, strong built receiver who has decent speed and uses his size to his advantage. Tate recently visited Michigan and the visit apparently went great. So good, that his brother was surprised he didn't commit on the spot. One other option for the wide receiver position is A.D Miller.

The Opening

The 2014 version of Nike’s “The Opening” starts next week. Michigan commits Darrin Kirkland Jr. and, Alex Malzone will head to Eugene, Oregon to show off their skills with some of the best high school players in the country.

Other Targets that will be in attendance include; Michael Weber,  Mathew Burrell, Damien Harris, Keisean Lucier-South, Josh McMillon, Osa Masina, Jacques Patrick, Auden Tate, Mook Reynolds, Iman Marshall and, Levonta Taylor.

Other Notes

Michigan commit Chris Clarke will not be partaking in The Opening as originally planned. Chris has stated that personal reasons will keep him from making the trip to Oregon
.
2015 RB target Mikell Lands-Davis committed to Georgia Tech last Friday.

2015 DE Keisean Lucier-South spoke MGoBlogs Brandon Brown earlier this week about his recruitment and had this to say

"I like Michigan a lot right now," he said. "The coaches direct message me everyday. I hear from Mattison, Hoke, and Ferrigno regularly. Hoke and Mattison don't DM me, but Ferrigno does. The commits are trying to get me there as well. Alex Malzone, Darrin Kirkland, and Chris Clark are all coming after me. They say like, 'Michigan is a great place and we can be really special.' I believe them too. Michigan is doing a great job in my recruitment."

Michigan and UCLA will likely be KLS’s top two schools come decision time.

2015 DE Jalen Bates will be stopping by Ann Arbor in late July. Although Michigan doesn't pull recruits out of Louisiana too often, they do have some pull with Bates, as he is cousins with former Michigan linebacker Jonas Mouton.

2015 DT Jashon Cornell also committed to Ohio State on Wednesday.  Michigan had stopped recruiting Jashon recently, as they had viewed him more as an interior lineman.

That’s all for this week folks! I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!
