The Future Huddle - Two Top Tens, New Offers and Other Notes

Which two Michigan targets released their top 10 lists this week? Who received scholarship offers from Michigan? Find out in this Fridays version of The Future Huddle.

Osa Masina named his top 10 via Twitter yesterday. Osa is the #159 ranked player in the nation and #2 in the State of Utah according to 247. His two older brothers Uaea and Lo’I currently attend the University of Utah. Michigan has had luck as of late when recruiting in “The Beehive State”, landing Bryan Mone last year and, Sione Houma in 2012.
Osa has made numerous visits to schools so far including; Stanford, Cal, USC, UCLA and Arizona State. Although Michigan will probably be recruiting him as a linebacker, Osa is very capable of playing on the offensive side of the ball. In his junior year of high school, Osa rushed for 1,683 yards including 25 touchdowns.  I would suspect that if he were to trim his list down to 5 schools, that Michigan would still make the cut.  Masina’s highlights can be viewed below.

2015 LB Darrin Kirkland Jr.  also released his top 10 yesterday via Twitter.
Not a surprise that Michigan makes the cut here. Darrin has been on campus numerous times throughout the past few months and will visit once again on May 17th. Darrin plans to announce this upcoming August, and my guess would be that he goes "blue".

                The New Offers:
2015 Offensive Lineman Shane Lemieux was offered a scholarship Thursday afternoon by Coach Dan Ferrigno
Height: 6’6
                Weight: 285
Current High School: West Valley (Yakima, Washington)
                Position: Offensive Tackle/Guard
                24/7 Rating: 3 Stars, #40 Guard
                ESPN Rating: NR
                Rivals Rating: NR
Scout Rating: 3 Stars, #36 OT
Other Offers:  Oregon, South Carolina, Arizona State, Arkansas

According to various reports Shane committed to the University of South Carolina last month, but has since de committed. Garnetandblackattack.com had this to say about Lemieux’s playing ability;
“He can play either guard or tackle and occasionally lines up as an extra blocking tight end in his high school offense. Lemieux also has sound technique and his film shows that he is able to create leverage and push defenders up the field.

Shane will make the trip to Eugene this weekend to visit the Oregon Ducks and has plans to visit South Carolina again this summer. I believe that his recruitment will come down to a battle between these two. Shane's Hudl highlights can be seen here.

The offers didn’t stop there either. 2015 RB Mikell Lands-Davis received an offer Thursday morning.
                Height: 5’11
                Weight: 205
Current High School:  Alexander High School (Douglasville, Georgia)
                Position: RB
                24/7 Rating: 4 Stars, #25 RB
                ESPN Rating: 3 Stars
                Rivals Rating: 3 Stars
Scout Rating: 3 Stars, #66 RB
                Other Offers:  Clemson, Georgia, Cincinnati

Mikell is a very fast, agile running back as you can see from his highlight tape below. He rarely gets caught in open field and, has the ability to make any defender miss. As a junior in high school, Mikell rushed for 2,374 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught 22 passes for 358 yards and one receiving touchdown.  My gut feeling regarding his offer is that he is a backup plan in case either Damien Harris or Mike Weber decide to chose somewhere other than Michigan. With Harris looking more and more likely not to end up at Michigan, this was a smart decision by the coaching staff.

Friday morning the coaching staff continued to send out offers. This time, it was 2016 Defensive End Jordan Woods receiving an offer.

Jordan has a pretty impressive offer list so far, with lots of schools in the south taking notice. He has visited Florida State twice in the past month. Getting Woods out of the state of Florida will be a battle, but anything can happen in the recruiting game. As a sophomore in high school Jordan racked up 60 tackles (38 solo), and 8 sacks. He was also named to Maxpreps sophomore All-American team on first defense. Jordan’s Hudl highlights can be seen by clicking here.
           Height: 6’3
        Weight: 235
Current High School:  Trinity Catholic (Oscala, Florida)
        Position: SDE
        24/7 Rating: 4 Stars, #10 SDE, #214 Overall
         ESPN Rating: NR
         Rivals Rating: NR
         Scout Rating: 4 Stars
Other Offers:  Florida, Florida State, Miami,South Carolina

Other Notes:
2015 Cass Tech RB Mike Weber will make an appearance at the University of Illinois this weekend.
Last week, it was announced that 2015 DE Keisean Lucier-South would make visits to Michigan and Notre Dame this summer. Well earlier this week Lucier-South spoke with Adam Gorney about his top schools saying
UCLA is probably I would say the team to beat right now.
Lucier-South will still make his visit to Michigan this summer, but it is critical that everything goes according to plan while he’s in Ann Arbor.

2016 Running Back Miles Sanders was visited by the coaching staff Friday morning.

And of course just as soon as I’m about to post this, another recruit received an offer. 2015 Offensive lineman Richard Merritt received his offer Friday afternoon. Check back next week for a full update.
