Fandom is irrational and emotional, and therefore should be fun. Period. Enjoy the ride, and if you ever stop having fun (and consequently write something stupid), the WLA will be there to remind you that you're a bitchy little donkeyfucker. You can count on it and, by knowing we're here for you, maybe next time you'll refrain from saying something stupid on the internet. If the blogging police at WLA think that my site is lame and my posts are stupid, that's fine. I'm okay with that. To each his own.
But to cast a blanket exhortation to all Michigan bloggers that if WLA thinks something you write is not up to their golden standard of passing the stupid-test, does not sit well with me. Don't get me wrong, I'll keep posting the usual stuff that I do...mostly YouTube videos, news and links, with some editorial commentary sprinkled in for fun. If WLA, or anyone for that matter takes issue with what I say, I can handle it. Criticism is fine, but the bad language used by WLA's authors is what gets me. I like to keep this blog PG rated if at all possible. Sports are a very emotional topic, and the internet is an easy forum for sports fans. But I'll stand by my policy of never deleting comments. If your point is good enough, f-bombs and a-holes should not be needed.
This post acts as basically a message to all MBN readers (I know you're out there!), that if WLA authors decide one of my posts does not pass their standards, and they populate the post comments with foul language, that at least I can say I said my piece, and that I do not condone such behavior.
I don't disagree with that stance. As someone not affiliated with them, but a frequenter of their boards, I hope you took my commentary as something separate.
ReplyDeleteI apologize for the language.
That being said, I still do disagree with several of your opinions and your apparent attempts at logic. At this point I think its potentially an age discrepancy. You appear to be from the era of "Michigan Man" and I'm from the era of "Michigan Man is a myth."
i dont think you have anything to worry about. i didn't even know this site existed until four days ago.

ReplyDeletedude you called Morgan Trent a "jackass" and used "f-ing" in the very same sentence. You are hardly the moral compass:
ReplyDeleteIt takes a special kind of jackass to place a f-ing Buckeye sticker on a Michigan helmet.

The WLA says you're stupid. You probably think the same thing about them. What does it matter in the grand scheme of things?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't agree with them (or respect their opinion), why should their opinion mean anything to you at all?
They have every right to say what they want through their own means, just like you have the right to say what you want through yours.
I think it's time for all involved to grow up.
Brad:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being added to the long and growing list of people to "feel the heat" of the WLA. I laugh at the silly attempts to bully themselves to the head of table of the Michigan blog world.
I have been lurking on their "uniscorn" the last couple of months and sometimes feel like I am reading a text version of the TV show The View, only this show is directed and produced by Jerry Springer when he was a sophomore.
My advice to you : ignore them and they will eventually go away to find someone else to taunt. Their attention span only lasts as long as you continue the battle.
The more I read from the so called "WLA" the more I am convinced they are all buddies that lived and loved together in a Michigan Frat house.
ReplyDeleteF them. Write what you want. If they don't like it, they can change the channel.
If you're being insulted by the WLA, you're doing okay.
